- UW Global and Rural Health Fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynecology
Description
The University of Washington Global and Rural Health Fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynecology (GRF-OBGYN) is a 2-year program designed to train leaders in the field to advance health equity and drive sustainable improvements in reproductive healthcare for marginalized and underserved communities in global and rural settings.
At the heart of our mission is the commitment to advance and transform reproductive healthcare and systems with an equity and justice lens. The GRF-OBGYN program will equip fellows with the knowledge, leadership skills, and hands-on experiences needed to become effective clinicians, managers, advocates, and leaders in global and rural health. Our fellowship is a natural extension of our parallel internal medicine and emergency medicine Global and Rural Health Fellowships and builds on the extensive expertise of the University of Washington Department of Global Health.
During the first year of the fellowship, fellows will have the unique opportunity to provide direct clinical care at Pine Ridge Hospital on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, working on health systems strengthening projects alongside local clinicians. The second year offers two distinct tracks: one focused on research, and the other on clinical education. Fellows will engage collaboratively with global health partners to conduct scholarly projects in line with their interests, ranging from clinical or implementation research to clinical quality improvement programs and health professions education curriculum development. Throughout the fellowship, fellows will be connected with clinical and scholarly mentors, with opportunities to build community with other GRH fellows in other specialties as well as faculty and global collaborators.
The monthly salary range for this position will be: $7,330 - $8,771 per month ($87,960 - $105,252 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Recruitment for the GRF-OBGYN fellowship begins now, with a fellowship start date of July 1, 2026. Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025, and accepted fellows will be notified by December 15, 2025.
